APOLOGY STRATEGIES : CROSS-CULTURAL STUDY

Abstract
 
Sudah tidak dapat disangkal lagi bahwa pariwisata dan budaya berkaitan sangat erat karena pada saat turis berkunjung ke suatu tempat, budaya yang berbeda akan berinteraksi. Penelitian ini mengamati cara mengungkapkan permintaan maaf antar dua budaya yang berbeda bahasa, yaitu  Indonesia dan Australia. Responden pada penelitian ini adalah 40 orang penutur asli bahasa Indonesia (kelompok 1) dan 40 orang penutur asli bahasa Inggris Australia (kelompok 2). Kelompok 1 terdiri dari para mahasiswa dari STP Trisakti Jakarta, sementara kelompok 2 dari University of Melbourne Australia. Mereka diminta mengisi angket yang berisi delapan situasi dimana permintaan maaf diharapkan di setiap situasi tersebut. Kemudian strategi meminta maaf oleh kedua kelompok diidentifikasi dan dibandingkan. Hasil penelitian ini memperlihatkan adanya variasi antar budaya antara kedua kelompok dalam memilih strategi.  Variasi ini terjadi baik dalam frekuensi penggunaan strategi maupun dalam cara mengungkapkan strategi. Perbedaan strategi ini bisa mengarah ke salah pengertian pada komunikasi antar budaya.

BENTUK PARTISIPASI MASYARAKAT PADA PEMBANGUNAN DAERAH WISATA

Abstract

The research objective in this study incorporates the assessment of the local community’s participation pattern at Puncak area tourism development. The data was compiled through questionnaires that were distributed to 212 respondents in the Puncak tourism area. The data was analyzed using descriptive method incorporating frequency distribution tables, calculation of mean value and standard deviations. Paired sample t-test was utilized to examine the difference in community’s image towards sustainable development. Results of study is the highest form of community participation in sustainable tourism development is in the implementation process (gotong royong or mutual support) 69% as compared to the planning process (53%) and controlling process (10%).

Abstract
 
This study highlights condition and trends of tourism development in Bunaken National Park (BNP). This study shows that tourism in BNP has been developed for the last few years and has given a significant contribution both to local people and economic development in the area. However, tourism activities in BNP have given negative impacts to coral reef ecosystem as long as diving is the main underwater tourist attraction in the area. Therefore, management system, conservation and the use of natural resources in the area should be given a serious attention from all stakeholders involved in the park management. Tourism in BNP should be well managed to have good balance between economic benefits gained from tourism and the conservation of the natural resources in the area.

DAMPAK   BOM   BALI   II TERHADAP BISNIS HOTEL:   STUDI   PENDAHULUAN   PADA  HOTEL-HOTEL DI KAWASAN WISATA NUSA DUA

Abstract

The objective of this prelimary study is to provide empirical evidence of the Bali Bom II impacts on the performance of hotels in Nusa Dua tourist resort area. Variables analysed in this study were daily average room rate and daily average room occupancy rate for September and October 2005. Other variables such as additional marketing expense, room night losts, average gross operating profit, and termination of daily workers and trainees for October 2005 were also analysed. The daily average room rate and daily average room occupancy rate of October 2005 were lower than September 2005. Using parametric and nonparametric statistical tests the differences were statistically significant. Due to bom Bali II room night losts in October 2005 amounted to 22399 room nights and average gross operating profit dropped to 47.18 % in October 2005. Termination of daily workers was insignificant and no student-training program was cancelled due to bom Bali II.

Abstract
 
Economic crisis has not only created a domino effect and caused multi dimensional crisis for Indonesia, but also it has generated a gap between hopeless community and the have people. Accidentally, the crisis has triggered the development of syariah banking in Indonesia. The new hotel and/ or in the hotel’s operational need a  fund. Usually conventional bank give the capital for the companies development. With the non interest fee, Islamic bank in the future can be alternative choice for the businessman for get the fund. The essence is that the economic matters shall generate social justice in prosperity and social prosperity in justice. The born of Islamic banking, therefore, has been viewed as an alternative solution to overcome the economic crisis in the banking sector, while the conventional banking has not made significant progress even it has been restructured.

Human resources are the most important resources especially for ground handling company, which is providing services. If customers are not satisfied, because lately the services who gave by the staff they will move on to competitors, and it might be worse for the company. For this problem PT. Jasa Angkasa Semesta as a ground handling company try to use part timer staff to help them especially at high season, because at the time the volume of customers who need services higher than low season and staff on duty is not enough. PT. Jasa Angkasa Semesta does ten ways to how give the quality services to customers: tangibles, realibility, responsiveness, competence, courtesy, credibility, security, access, communication, and understanding the customer.

Abstract

This study highlights tourism potentials in Regency of West Manggarai and other supporting facilities such as accommodation and transportation. Tourism development in Regency of West Manggarai has to be improved in a more optimal fashion, professional, and comprehensive management. As a result, the social and economic development will go in line with the increase of income and standard of living of the local society in the area.
