BANTEN DALAM PERSPEKTIF SEJARAH DAN BUDAYA

Abstract
 
Banten has a long history of being the center of Javanese civilization, especially for West Java communities. Its strategic value had always become the reason behind territorial annexa-tion between local communities and the Dutch whom later came. Monuments in various forms were established as a personification of domination owned by the person in power at that time. These structures are a national historical heritage with a great potential to be developed as tourist object. Such packaging of these tourism products in forms of tourist attrac-tion is hope that needs to be realized.

FAKTOR-FAKTOR YANG MEMPENGARUHI HARAPAN PELANGGAN DI HOTEL
(Studi Kasus di Hotel Novotel, Bogor)

Abstract
 
Tourism in Indonesia are now facing the problem of low standard of service quality. Hotel plays an important role in provid-ing satisfactory service for customers, especially tourists, in hope of expanding one’s length of stay.  The research aims to determine the factors that influence the hotel customers expec-tancy, and which factors are the most influential to the hotel customers’ hope. The method being used is verification re-search with 98 respondents, and collected data  was analyzed using multiple regressions. The result of this research showed that (1) independent variable (such as past experiences, needs and other experiences)  influenced dependent variable of hotel customers expectancy; (2)  free variable of needs (x2) has prob-ability less than 0.05 so it was significantly influencing the ho-tel customers hope, and two other variables, past experience (x1) and other experience (x3), showed probability higher than 0.05, but did not influence the hotel customers hope.

Abstract
 
Entering the third millennium, the expansion of international network will eventually integrate communities all over the world. A unit of interdependency system emerge and diminishing local differences and cultural barriers. However, it is naive to expect tourism development as the force behind Indonesia’s economic and social improvement away from crisis, without redefining the existing vision and mission of national tourism development policy. On the other hand, Fordis economy regime has shifted to-wards post-Fordis creating a new division of international tour-ism where neo-tourism and alternative tourism find their way by offering not only opportunity but also policy. This essay begins with a brief critic on conventional global tourism expansion and its role in the Third World economy development. Continued with a discussion on strategic issues concerning human resource planning in tourism as an anticipation on the rising of neo-tourism.

PENCITRAAN FESTIVAL KOLECER SEBAGAI ATRAKSI WISATA :

Abstract
 
For so long, ‘Kolecer’ has been known and enjoyed by local communities of most ethnic groups in Indonesia as a fun activ-ity. Creating such image is a significant matter in developing kolecer to be one of tourist attraction offered.  Method being used in this research is comparative causal to determine the economic benefit  attained by the community in the event of Kolecer Festival activity.  As many as 83 respondents, compris-ing of 55 visitors and 27 local traders, agreed that the organi¬zing of Kolecer Festival has been able to provide economic benefit and creating new jobs for surrounding community.  In-dicator analysis showed that familiarity factor (r2=0.415) and benefit factor (r2=0.207) are the most significant factors in in-fluencing the imaging of kolecer as tourist attraction.

Abstract
 
Tourism stakeholder comprises of four groups, namely: government, community, private-sector, and tourists. Government paly the role in tourism planning, while community and private-sector involve in forms of business/entrepreneur, and tourists through their interest and travel motives.  Planning document is resulted, such as policies, regulations, feasability study, development plan, detailed layout plan, and tourism destination and site plan. This paper focuses on planning principles based on considerations of scarcity, nature/originality, uniqueness, labor intense, land-use optimization, welfareness, and equity. Salak Pondoh agrotourism area is an example of the implementation of this planning principles, and a model for other tourism planners and decision makers.

Abstract
 
Tourism should be understood as a multidimensional phenomenon that encompasses physical, socio-cultural, human as well as economic dimensions. Accordingly, those dimensions should have been used as a basic framework in formulating strategic planning for tourism destination. This paper explains how physical, socio-cultural, human, and economic dimensions are blend together in order to promote a sustainable development concept in formulating tourism strategic planning. In the last part of this paper, the authors also propose a revision for existing tourism planning of West Java Province for the period of 2001-2010.

Abstract
 
For literally hundreds of years, Banjarese people have lived along the riverside of Sungai Barito and Martapura. Their culture evolved and flourished to this day in forms of tradi-tional wooden houses, mosques, monuments and the unique floating market are just a few to name. Such tourist attractions, however, are not yet well exposed for  tourism purposes. Tourism development is really an uphill battle in Banjarmasin, South Kalimantan generally. Planning is the initial step of tourism development. This writing offers a broad view in understanding the potential of river tourism and its development concept planning towards a sustain-able tourism development in Banjarmasin. Known as ‘Venice of the East’, Banjarmasin with its network of criss-crossing rivers, streams, and canals, and a distinctive and colourful Banjarese culture deserves more tourists that it gets.

Abstract
 
Competition in business environment is the most influencing factor of marketing strategy for enterprises, including hotels. The ability to survive and succeed is determined by optimizing the use of all resources and assessment of current competition atmosphere. Choosing the right strategy based on strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats identification will significantly effect the positioning of hotels in the market. This paper presents an introductory assessment of existing position of hotels, followed by a discussion on competition strategy available. In addition to that, an overview of current competi-tion in the market should give a better understanding of the matter.
